Target oh target. My second home. From snacks to home decor to kids' clothes, Target is my go-to for all the things I never knew I needed. And like many of you, I’ve come to expect my shopping experience to be as easy as my shopping cart getting fuller by the minute. But what happens when something doesn't work out? You guessed it—returns.
Returning items at Target is easier than you think. Whether you’re heading to the store, mailing it back, or using their app, Target’s got you covered.
Here’s how you can make a return in just four steps:
• Return in-store
• Return online
• Mail it back
• Use Drive Up for returns
Bonus tip: If it’s a Target-owned brand, you have an entire year to return it!
Now, let’s break it down a bit further to keep things stress-free.
In-Store Returns
For all you in-person shoppers (or those who live dangerously close to your local Target like I do), returning in-store is a breeze. Just bring the item you’re returning and either the receipt, the return barcode from the app, or the payment method you used.
If you made your purchase with a card connected to your Target account, the store can look up your receipt. No more digging through your wallet for crumpled receipts! Head over to Guest Services, and they’ll take care of the rest.
Online Returns
If you prefer to handle your returns from the comfort of your couch (no judgment here), Target’s website or app makes it easy to start the process. Find the item in your order history, choose the return option, and follow the prompts. You’ll get a return barcode if you decide to drop the item off in-store. But if not, schedule your package pickup with Cinch Returns.
Mailing It Back
If a trip to Target just isn’t in the cards today, you can mail your return. Target provides a free return mailing label via email or directly on your order details page. All you need to do is pack up the item with its original packaging and any accessories it came with, slap that label on the box, and you’re good to go. Target will take care of the rest. Simple! Be sure to then schedule your package pickup with Cinch Returns. Cinch will even print the label for you for all my friends without a printer. I see you. I am you.
Drive Up Returns
You can use the same Drive Up service you love for shopping to make returns. Just bring your new, unopened items to a Target Drive Up location, and they’ll handle the rest—all from the comfort of your car. Most returns are free and accepted within 90 days of purchase.
Refunds
Refunds are typically sent to the original payment method. If you used a Target GiftCard, they’ll send you a shiny new eGiftCard. If your return doesn’t qualify, they won’t keep the item, but they may donate or recycle it.
Returns don’t have to be complicated, especially at Target. So whether you’re in-store, online, mailing it in, or taking the Drive Up route, Target’s return process is built for convenience. And that’s the Cinch with Target returns.
